Restaurant 1: Citricos

"It's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow, Shining at the End of Everyday...." -Walt Disney
Thank you for visiting my blog, where I will be revisiting restaurants on the Walt Disney World Property that I have visited in the past.
Do you think Disney World is just rides and entertainment?  Well let me tell you, it has some of the very best and worst cuisine anywhere on Earth.
Today, I would like to show you (verbally, of course) the restaurant Citricos.  Located in the Grand Floridian Resort, 2nd floor of the main building, next to Victoria and Alberts.  Currently, the restaurant is undergoing a refurbishment, however, you can still dine here.  (Well, once the resort reopens).   According to DisneyWorld.com, this restaurant is "American Cuisine infused with Mediterranean flavors..." whatever that means!  A question I often ask myself other than hamburgers and hot dogs, what the heck is "American Cuisine"?  As far as I am concerned, the United States does not have a cuisine.  I know I may get flak for this but think about it, what do we have here that is unique to America.  One may say barbecue could be unique, however, Latin American cooking as well as some European nations offer up a nice barbecue.
Anyway, back to Citricos -- DisneyWorld.com claims this restaurant has an extensive wine list.  Through my experience, this restaurant has a wine list, extensive?  I think not!  I believe the mixed drinks fit this restaurant more than a wine list.  The last time I was at this establishment, I had a lemon drop martini.  Was it the best martini I ever had, no, however, it went well with my entree, in which we will explore in a moment.  The abeyance of this restaurant is a little on the elegant side (being the Grand Floridan), however, a nice polo shirt and khakis shorts will do just fine for dining here. When you arrive, you will be seated out in a very uninviting waiting area.  Once you are seated, you will be greeted by a highly professional waiter or waitress.  Their knowledge of the menu is extensive and will help you select something to your liking.  When you take your first glance at the menu, you may think, "ummm..there are only five options?!?!", however, you have me to tell you that there is an additional item not listed, Lamb Shank!  Let me tell you, this is the most amazing, fall off the bone, tasty, moist (shout out to my cousin Rochelle for using her least favorite word), lamb shank I have had.
For dessert, I had the Warm Chocolate-Banana Torte, it was good, but tasted very much institutional type dessert, you know like the one you got in the high school Cafeteria.  It was on the dry side, lacked banana flavor, and did not give me the "WOW!" factor.
In the end what gave me the "WOW!" factor was the bill at the end of the meal.  For just me, the bill was over $100 plus tip.  Although the food was good, I thought the shock of the bill left a sour taste in my mouth.  Understanding that this is Disney World after all, prices are inflated, I still did not expect how much everything is.  Listed on the Walt Disney World website this restaurant is "$$$ ($35-$59.99 per adult)".
Grading of this Establishment:
Service: A- (Servers are very attentive, great attention to detail, understanding the guest needs, etc)
Drinks:  B (The Lemon Drop Martini was that of an average restaurant.  There was a lack of garnish, and pizzazz!)
Atmosphere:  B- (The restaurant is nice, nothing exciting, nothing noteworthy...just average)
Food:  C (The best item on the menu is the Lamb Shank, but you cannot order it if its on a menu no one knows about!  Yes, it is the best lamb shank I have had, but its no good if you don't know that they serve it!)
Overall:  B (If you want an "OK" restaurant, with an expensive menu, and do not want a lot of "WOW!" moments, then look no further!)

Thank you for reading this review!  I promise I will not be all over the place next time!  If you have suggestions for the next blog, please share them with me.. acossar@icloud.com!

Until next time, "See Ya Real Soon!" - Mickey Mouse
