Restaurant 4: Be Our Guest

Hello my wonderful blog readers!  I hope this blog finds you safe and healthy, I hope you enjoy this latest installment of Disney World dining reviews.  Today, I will be reviewing, Be Our Guest restaurant.

Located in Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom, at Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.  To find this restaurant you have to walk to the furthest reaches of the Magic Kingdom.  Located behind Cinderella's Castle, you will see Beast's Castle in Fantasyland.  To check into this restaurant, yes reservations are needed, walk up to the podium located outside in front of the castle.  Once checked in, you wait with your pager, outside.  Once you are called, the host will take you into the castle.  The ambiance is amazing, once you walk in you will see a beautiful stained glass (great photo spot).  Where I was seated was the middle room, kind of looks like a ballroom, with high ceilings, marble floors (well fake ones anyway), windows (in Disney fashion, it magically snows when you look out them), and many tables.

Supposedly, there are many other rooms in this restaurant, however, they rush you through your meal, that you barely get to see your own room that you are dining in.  One of the other rooms, the rose room, has a rose that loses its pedal, like in the movie.  I only know this from watching YouTube videos on this subject matter.

Anyway, after being seated, the table next to me was literally three feet from my table.  You could not have a conversation without the table next to you hearing it, as well as them oooooh and ahhhh-ing over your dinner items.  Okay, I know we are in Disney, but really?  I normally love to talk to people around me, but when I have dinner, I like to focus on the person or persons I am dining with.
After several moments of awkwardness, I took a look at my place setting, noticed my napkin was in the shape of a rose, nice touch Disney.  Taking a look at my napkin took my mind off of how loud it was in the restaurant, and all the kids running around this massive mess hall (military reference) of a restaurant.

Needless to say I ordered the center-cut filet mignon.  After having the extra hard, been under the heat lamp for what seems hours, bread, my meal came out.  Presentation of the meal was average, as average as a circular piece of meat that has no fat, can be.  Like I typically do, I ordered it medium rare.  I placed my napkin on my lap, went into cut the meat, and it was like a game.  Being faux marble tables, with a ceramic plate, the plate swiveled and swerved again and again.  Frustrated, I took that fancy rose napkin, placed it under my plate to give it some grip.  I know the Beast would just use his hands, but that would be not very restaurant like.  However, you could hear me gripe like the Beasts' roar!  With all this going on, I forgot that I am an elbow out when I cut kind of guy.  With people less than five feet from me, I felt like I would give them a nice swift elbow when cutting.

After the "cut the meat" game, it was dessert time.  The waiter came over with the dessert cart.  Looking puzzled, I wondered how on Earth he was going to show us these desserts.  Sure enough, he wiggled the expansive cart in between for me to view, might as well showed the couple next to me as well.  In the theme of the restaurant, I tried the gray stuff, they say it is delicious.  Well, it was disappointing, if I wanted a spoon full of sugar, I would have asked Mary Poppins.

In conclusion, this restaurant is a great disappointment.  It is very hard to get a reservation for this restaurant, why? I do not know!  Maybe its the thought of being in Beast's Castle, that would be the only reason I would think because it is not the food.  Anyway, they serve a breakfast buffet (not a character breakfast, unless you think taking a single picture with Beast is), lunch buffet, and dinner (plated).  My total bill came to over $85.  On the Disney World website it lists the restaurant as $15-$34.99 per adult for the buffet, and $60+ per adult dinner.

Grading this establishment:
Service:  C+ (the server had too many tables, spent as little time as possible at each)
Drinks: N/A (Frustrated with the slow service, loud atmosphere, I decided on a Coke product)
Food:  C- (not impressed, overly priced, was not cooked to how I ordered it)
Atmosphere:  D (Other than its a cool looking interior, loud, plates clanging, made it for a super                              unenjoyable experience.)
Overall:  C- (no more comments are needed)
